Mandy Gleason of Replica Surfaces on business relationships and her biggest success

Who is your team made of and how do you cultivate a team?
“I work with many different people from a manufacturing standpoint…When you create amazing relationships in business you never left them go. You don’t try to negotiate a couple of cents off of something if it could hurt the relationship. Not to say that there isn’t a place for negotiation… but just knowing that everybody needs to get a piece of the pie and not being overly aggressive. I think that the best businesses are not at all cut throat. Once you find those great team members, you just never let them go.”

Is each person in charge of specific things within the business?
“We certainly come together and discuss the big picture usually over a brunch. So we talk about big picture strategy, and clearly we can come to each other about anything no matter what it is, to get the other person’s opinion. For the most part, I focus the most on content on Instagram, on the design of the surfaces themselves, and then he (Mandy’s husband) spends more of his time with the fulfillment and the manufacturing…kinda the backend stuff that gets the surfaces into people’s homes.”

What has been your biggest success or moment?
I would say that my biggest success hands down was creating the Facebook Replica VIP community. This community is all about creating an incredibly supportive and warm environment. It’s just an incredibly collaborative place where nobody is competing with each other because we all have a place. It’s so wonderful to watch and see people sharing with each other instead of me just sharing on a one-way street.”
