Tiffany Lusteg's biggest tips for bringing your creative passion to fulltime

Can you take us through what your average process looks like?

 -        Figuring out what type of project it is…for example, a mural for someone’s home or for a massive audience

-        Communication with the client about what they want/need. Do they have a distinct direction or is it up to tiffany as the creative?

-        Designing a concept to send to the client for feedback or approval

-        Material sourcing begins, looking at color palettes and moodboards

-        Ordering online, going to the store, and beginning production

-    Working together with her husband to produce the installation assets

What is your biggest tip for creative women who decide to bring their passion into a fulltime business?

-        Don’t feel obligated to pigeon-hole myself or my business into one thing. Instead, examine what’s working and what isn’t and what’s bringing me joy and what isn’t. Be comfortable with pivoting whenever it feels necessary.

-        In the beginning, in order to grow, I’ve had to learn to become fairly comfortable with failure and rejection. I can feel really scary to put something you made out there and into the world for everyone to see. I think one of the most influential quotes I’ve heard is that vulnerability is really the birthplace of creativity. If you’re not willing to try something that no one has ever tried before, with the risk of failure, then you’re not going to be able to live a creative life.

What does creativity mean to you?
I think being willing to be vulnerable and take emotional risks and put something out there into the world, that you can fail at. There’s beauty in that and I think that’s really the start of being able to live a creative life. It really breaks my heart when people say I’m Not Creative. I think everyone has the capacity for creativity. Being willing to try something differently than anyone has been willing to try before. That’s where creativity happens.
