Creating with Intention and Heart with MJ Kocovski
MJ's profile @theresgoodinstore gives social (and life) a mix of beauty and inspiration. What happens when you mix the two things you love the most?
The thing that is nice about pen on paper, or brush on canvas, is that you can see all these individual decisions that people have made when they are creating something. Whether its pencil line or the brush stroke, and digitally it is much harder to see that. It is difficult on programs and IPads for illustrations unique, but it's nice to see how far they have come and emulate at least some we are trying to accomplish is really nice, and you can do it on the go.
When you are illustrating, is it something that you do full time?
“ I have a part-time graphic design job and a quarter time social media position, and whatever left over time I have is spent on my illustrating and design business. I also incorporate my design and illustration with social media work. The social media work that I do for a few different organizations involves me creating the graphics. It feels like a good blend of lots of different things that I like to juggle.”
As a creative, it is nice to switch positions here and there. I know a lot of creatives that get bored of doing the same exact thing over and over again. So, it's nice to pick up a different skill set here and there.
Because you have two other jobs that you are doing, how do you manage finding time to do your own thing?
“Right now, I am remote for my part time position, I work from my home all the time and that is beautiful because I can set my own schedule with the positions that I have. I know my own workflow, so I typically start off my day doing my graphic design, when I have my full attention. I am a morning person, in terms of my energy level. I get things done in the morning, I attend to my social media accounts and in the afternoon and evenings I have more fluid free time. This is where I can work on my own projects, and new things I want to try, new skills, new products I am developing, new posts and whatever the case might be.”
